"Heavily fictionalised but outstanding effort": Captain GR Gopinath shares his verdict on Suriya's Soorarai Pottru

Captain GR Gopinath founder of Air Deccan, took to Twitter and shared his feedback n Suriya's Soorarai Pottru, which is based on his life. In a series of tweets, Gopinath called Soorarai Pottru a heavily fictionalised version of his life but managed to capture the true essence of his life. Directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad, the film stars Suriya, Aparna Balamurali and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles. GR Gopinath, in a series of tweets, wrote about his thoughts on Soorarai Pottru. He watched the film last night and appreciated director Sudha Kongara Prasad for capturing the true essence of the film. He also appreciated Suriya for his earnest performance.

In a tweet, he wrote, "Sorarai potru ..Heavily fictionalised but outstanding in capturing the true essence of the story of my book. A real roller coaster. Yes watched it last night. Couldn’t help laughing and crying on many family scenes that brought memories. "Dramatised but true to the undying spirit of triumph of hope against struggles and tribulations of an entrepreneur with disadvantaged rural background over overwhelming odds (sic)," he added. Soorarai Pottru is the first big-budget film to skip theatrical release and take the OTT route. The film was slated to hit the theatres this summer. But, due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the film's release was postponed. Soorarai Pottru is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The film was wrapped up in 60 days and received positive reviews from the audience and critics alike.
