NCB seeks 90 more days to file chargesheet in Aryan Khan drugs case
The NCB has filed a plea before a Mumbai sessions court seeking 90 days' extension to file a chargesheet in the cruise drugs case involving actor Shah Rukh Khan's son, Aryan Khan. The NCB is required to file a chargesheet in a case within 180 days of the FIR. As per this procedure, April 2 is the deadline for NCB to file a chargesheet in the Mumbai cruise ship drugs bust case involving Aryan Khan. Aryan Khan, along with his friends Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha, were arrested by the NCB following a raid at Mumbai's International Cruise Terminal on October 3 of last year.
The drug enforcement agency had seized 13 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of mephedrone, 21 grams of charas and 22 MDMA/Ecstasy pills during the raid on the Cordelia cruise from Mumbai to Goa. The raid was led by NCB's then zonal director (Mumbai) Sameer Wankhede, who has since returned to the Indian Revenue Services (IRS).A total of 20 individuals were arrested in connection with the case. Out of these, 18 are now out on bail, including Aryan Khan. The actor's son was booked under sections 8C, 20B, 27 and 35 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.Aryan Khan was lodged at the Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai for nearly a month, released after he was granted bail by the Bombay High Court on October 30. Aryan's bail petition was earlier rejected by a sessions court and a Special NDPS court.
