Actor Parvathy on Thursday took to Instagram to slam the jury of ONV literary award for honouring Tamil lyricist and poet Vairamuthu with the prestigious award. Parvathy in a long Instagram post expressed her anger on giving the  award to the MeToo accused.Calling it an immense disrespect, she wrote, "17 women have come out with their stories. We don’t know how many more have been wronged. There seems to be enough whataboutery to continue wronging those who are wronged. Only to uphold the reputation of those in power. Nothing is more important than humanity. If you come at me with the art vs artist debate, let me tell you that for me the humanity of the person creating the art is the only thing I’d choose to look at. I can live without the “art” of those who hollow out lives with absolute impunity. How do you justify this? #adoorgopalakrishnan and the jury who decided to the accused Vairamuthu this honour."

Parvathy, a two-time recipient of Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress is quite vocal on the issues that has been plaguing the entertainment industry. In October last year, she had announced her resignation from Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) citing remarks made by the film body’s general secretary Edavela Babu about a fellow female actor. The award, instituted in memory of poet ONV Kurup, and is awarded to poets from Malayalam and other Indian languages. The ONV Cultural Academy started the ONV literary award in 2016 after the passing of ONV Kurup. This is the first time a non-Malayali is being conferred with this award. For the unversed, During 2018, during the MeToo movement, singer and dubbing artist Chinmayi Sripaada named Vairamuthu. 16 other women had called out the veteran lyricist. Chinmayi Sripaada, one of the notable singers from South, took to social media and had exposed Tamil lyricist Vairamuthu of sexually harassing her years ago. The National Award-winning singer Chinmayi had got support from the actors like Siddharth, Samantha Akkineni and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. Many Indian celebrities including Rajat Kapoor, Chetan Bhagat, Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Nana Patekar were accused of sexual harassment.
