Raj Kundra's police custody extended till July 27 in pornography case

Raj Kundra's police custody has been extended till July 27, 2021. He was arrested by the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police in a case relating to the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps on Monday night. According to ANI, police had sought 7 days further of police custody, citing Kundra was not cooperating in the investigation. Kundra was booked under IPC Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays), and relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

Raj has been named the ‘key conspirator’ in the case. Raj and his partner Ryan Tharp were sent to judicial custody till July 23. Earlier, Mumbai Police Commissioner, Hemant Nagrale shared in a statement, ‘There was a case registered with Crime Branch Mumbai in February 2021 about the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. We’ve arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this.’ There were reports that he paid a bribe of Rs 25 lakh to the Crime Branch to avoid arrest.
