Playback singer and dubbing artist Chinmayi Sripaada on Tuesday (October 13) took to Twitter to share a woman's account on how she was harassed by poet and lyricist Vairamuthu. Two years after the #MeToo movement, a video jockey who worked at a famous television channel sent an anonymous letter to Chinmayi about her ordeal with Vairamuthu. In her caption, Chinmayi said that the woman's family did not support her which is why she took two years to open up. This is the 17th complaint against poet and lyricist Vairamuthu in two years.

Sharing the complaint, Chinmayi wrote, "Almost 2 years since the second wave of the #MeToo movement. #17 It took her 2 years to open up to me because her family doesn’t support. Have known her for years. And of course, does it even matter to the peeps of this society? (sic)."In her complaint, the anonymous woman said that she got Vairamuthu's autograph during a book release function. He signed the book with his phone number. She ignored it. Later, when she worked at a media channel, Vairamuthu got her number and constantly harassed her by calling her.She also added that Vairamuthu invited her to his house in Mount Road several times. Even when she ignored it, Vairamuthu didn't stop. He also called her 50 to 60 times in an hour. In her message to Chinmayi Sripaada, the woman said that she would love to share her name, but her in-laws are not being supportive. In 2018, when the #MeToo movement picked up momentum in India, Chinmayi and several other women levelled allegations against Vairamuthu.
