The Ministry of Home Affairs has allowed cinema halls and movie thatres to re-open for the public with 50 percent capacity while maintaining other safety protocols from Thursday after halls remained shut for months due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown. Several films during the coronavirus lockdown had opted for OTT releases, including Sushant's last film ‘Dil Bechara’ that had the strong support of the fans for its theatrical release. Now a number of films are all set to hit the screens once again, which includes Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Kedarnath, Thappad, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Malang.

Movie critic and Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "As cinemas ready to reopen their doors from this week onwards, the list of #Hindi films scheduled for re-release this week is OFFICIALLY announced...So far, movie theatres have been permitted to reopen with 50% capacity in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, Manipur, Bihar, Goa, Chattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, West Bengal, Karnataka, and Puducherry. Meanwhile for the other states and UTs, either the decision will be taken after Oct 31, or no directives have been issued so far.
