Tamil director-cinematographer KV Anand passed away on Friday in Chennai due to Covid-19 related complications. He was 54. Anand suffered a heart attack in the early hours of Friday and passed away at 3 am at a hospital, as per reports. He was best-known for his work in largely Tamil films like Kana Kandaen, Ayan, Ko, Maattrraan, Anegan, Kavan and Kaappaa. He began his career as a photo journalist and started assisting cinematographer PC Sreeram in films such as Gopura Vasalile, Meera, Devar Magan, Amaran and Thiruda Thiruda. 

He received a National Film Award for Best Cinematographer in the year 1994 for his work in the Malayalam movie Thenmavin Kombath, starring Mohanlal, Shobana in the lead roles. KV Anand made his directorial debut in 2005 with the film Kanaa Kanden. However, his breakout film as a director was the 2009 film Ayan, starring Suriya, which went on to become a huge commercial success. During his celebrated career,  KV Anand collaborated with the some of the biggest names of entertainment industry. Mohanlal, Allu Arjun, Prithviraj, Santosh Sivan, Harris Jayaraj and D Imaan were among those who mourned Anand’s demise. KV Anand lived in Adyar, Chennai with his mother, wife, and two daughters. His wife and daughter were diagnosed with  COVID-19, two weeks ago, and they have been treated at home. The ace cinematographer, faced difficulty in breathing. He  went to a hospital by his car and admitted himself.
