Amid the growing concerns of Coronavirus across the globe a sense of panic has emerged among individuals who get worried at the slightest hint of feeling unwell. Even a small flu like symptoms sends everyone in a tense mode. Let us have a look at the difference between Coronavirus and Flu.

Symptoms 

Both cause fever, cough, fatigue; sometimes vomiting and diarrhoea.Can be mild or severe, even fatal in rare cases.Can result in pneumonia.

Transmission Both spread through droplets released by an infected person while coughing, sneezing or talking.

TreatmentNeither virus is treatable with antibiotics,which only work on bacterial infections.Both may be treated by addressing symptoms, such as reducing fever. Severe cases may require hospitalisaion and support, such as mechanical ventilation.

PreventionBoth may be prevented by frequent through hand wash and by staying at home when sick and limiting contact with infected people.

CausesFlu is caused by different tyoes and strains of influenza viruses on the other hand coronavirus is caused by one virus the novel 2019 coronavirus, now called severe acute respiratory syndrome  coronavirus 2, or SARS-CoV-2.

VaccineFlu - Vaccine is available which can reduce the severity but for Cov-19 no vaccine is available yet.

InfectionsFlu - Estimated 1 billion cases worldwide.Coronavirus - Over 97,000 cases confirmed so far.
