Indian Army doctor infected with coronavirus

One Indian Army doctor and a private person were tested COVID positive at Manekshaw Enclave in Delhi Cantonment area on Tuesday.

New Delhi, April 14 One Indian Army doctor and a private person were tested COVID positive at Manekshaw Enclave in Delhi Cantonment area on Tuesday.

"One Army Doctor has been tested positive. Actions as per protocol like quarantine of other residents, sanitation of common areas in the Block, contact tracing and others are in progress," said an Army source.

In March, the forces recorded three COVID positive cases. The first case was of a soldier from Territorial Army who tested positive from Ladakh Scouts in Leh.

Two COVID-19 positive cases were found on March 29. A Colonel, who is doctor in Kolkota, and a Junior Commissioned Officer in Dehradun were found to be tested positive.

"A Colonel-rank doctor has tested positive for COVID19 at Army Command Hospital in Kolkata. The officer was in New Delhi recently. The officer has been put under quarantine and all precautions are being taken for his colleagues as well," Indian Army had stated.

In fight against COVID, the Indian Army Chief had directed to reduce attendance in offices, excluding personnel engaged in essential and emergency services directly involved in taking measures to control the spread of the virus

The Indian Army had also closed its canteen stores and decided to provide home delivery of grocery and essential items. The force has asked his men to maintain social distancing while performing all tasks.
