Sleep Tips: Avoid These 5 Mistakes to Improve Sleep Quality and Boost Energy
Good sleep is important to maintain good health and staying fresh. While we sleep our body works and repairs our system for next day. Therefore, getting enough and good quality sleep every day is very important. However, many times we unknowingly make some common mistakes, which not only disrupt sleep but also have a negative impact on health.
Renowned Ayurvedic nutritionist Shweta Shah has shared information about five such mistakes. In a post shared on Instagram, she explained that it is essential to avoid these five mistakes while sleeping. Let's find out what they are.
Sleeping on Stomach
Many people have a habit of sleeping on their stomachs, but this method is not considered good for health. The nutritionist says that sleeping on your stomach puts pressure on the respiratory tract, which can cause difficulty breathing and the body does not get enough oxygen. Therefore, avoid sleeping on your stomach. Sleeping on your left side is considered the best. This puts less strain on the heart and respiration, and leads to more peaceful sleep.
Taking sleeping pills frequently
Many people start taking medication on their own if they can't sleep, but this is very wrong. Shweta Shah says that such medications can have a negative effect on respiration and misuse can lead to serious side effects. Therefore, do not take sleeping pills without consulting a doctor.
Eating heavy and late meals at night
Eating late and heavy meals at night affects sleep. In such cases, the body has to work harder to digest the food, which disrupts sleep. If digestion is not proper, you don't get deep sleep. Therefore, eat light meals and finish eating 2-3 hours before going to bed.
Sleeping with your mobile phone near your head
Nowadays, many people use their mobile phones while sleeping and keep their phones near their pillows. This habit can also prove to be extremely dangerous. Shweta Shah says that keeping a mobile phone near your head exposes you to radiation and blue light, which disrupts sleep and increases stress. Also, constant notifications prevent you from getting deep sleep. Therefore, always keep your mobile phone away while sleeping, and if possible, keep it on silent mode.
Sleeping with the TV on
Some people have a habit of watching TV while falling asleep, and often the TV remains on. This habit is also harmful to sleep quality. The screen light and sound do not allow the brain to completely relax. This can affect heart rate, respiration, and sleep quality. Therefore, turn off the TV before going to sleep, and keep the room quiet and completely dark.
