COVID-19: North Korea executes man for violating quarantine rules

In a shocking incident, North Korea has publicly executed a citizen by firing squad to punish a breach of coronavirus rules, according to insiders in the country. 

A man accused of smuggling across the sealed-off Chinese border was shot dead on November 28 in order to scare people into following the rules, according to Radio Free Asia. 

While North Korea officially claims it has never had a case of Covid-19, Kim Jong-un's regime has brought in 'ultra-high-level emergency quarantine measures' and troops have been ordered to shoot trespassers at the Chinese border, sources say. 

North Korea, which shares an 880-mile border with China, claims it is Covid-free but the totalitarian regime has implemented a number of severe lockdown restrictions used to stop the spread of the virus, including a ban on travel between provinces.

"The victim in his 50s was trying to smuggle with Chinese business partners and was shot as an example on 28 November," the source added.
