Donald Trump Announces 5-Day Halt to Planned Strikes on Iran as US-Iran Negotiation Talks Begin

Amid the escalating tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a major development. The United States has temporarily halted its planned military strikes on Iran, with further decisions to be taken after ongoing diplomatic discussions. In a post shared on social media, Trump stated that the United States and Iran have held positive discussions over the past two days, and the talks are expected to continue for the next week. He also revealed that he has instructed the U.S. Department of Defense to suspend all planned military strikes on Iran’s power plants and energy infrastructure for five days as negotiations continue.

Trump further claimed that serious discussions are underway between the two nations with the aim of easing tensions in the Middle East and preventing further escalation of the conflict. Interestingly, the announcement comes just a day after Trump issued a stern warning to Iran regarding the strategic Strait of Hormuz. He had earlier warned that if Iran did not reopen the crucial shipping route within 48 hours, the United States would launch attacks on Iranian power plants. However, with diplomatic talks now underway, Washington has decided to temporarily pause the planned military action.

Possibility of a Ceasefire?

The ongoing discussions between the United States and Iran have raised the possibility of a ceasefire. However, a final decision will depend on the outcome of the upcoming negotiations. According to international political analysts, if the talks succeed, tensions across the Middle East could significantly ease. If the negotiations fail, however, the situation could escalate again, potentially leading to renewed military operations.
