Donald Trump Claims ‘Mohammed bin Salman Is With Us’ Amid Iran War, Signals Saudi Support

US President Donald Trump has said Saudi Arabia is with the United States in the war against Iran and "fighting with us." Responding to a question from a reporter at the Oval Office on whether Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is "encouraging you to do certain things related to Iran?", the US President said, "he is a warrior. He is fighting with us, by the way."

The question comes after the report of The New York Times claiming that the Saudi Crown Prince is pushing the US to remain in the Israel war against Tehran, calling it a "historic opportunity" to remake the Middle East.

According to the NYT report, the Crown Prince MBS has argued to continue the US-Israel military campaign in Iran to dismantle Iran's hard-line Shia regime. People familiar with the matter told the US-based publication that MBS has requested that Trump consider that Iran poses a long-term threat to the Gulf.

Earlier, a similar statement given by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Iran is a long-term threat to the Middle East region.

Meanwhile, President Trump sent a peace plan to Iran as he voiced optimism on Tuesday at ending nearly a month of a war, with Tehran announcing that it will let “non-hostile” oil vessels go through the crucial Strait of Hormuz.
