Donald Trump's Signature to Appear on US Currency in First for Sitting President
The signature of the sitting US President will appear on dollar bills, according to the Treasury Department. President Donald Trump’s signature will be featured on currency alongside that of US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The department said the move is intended to mark America’s 250th anniversary.
“There is no more powerful way to recognise the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J. Trump than US dollar bills bearing his name,” Bessent said. Traditionally, US banknotes have carried the signatures of treasury officials.
This is the latest move by the administration to associate Trump’s name with a range of government programmes and public buildings.

The first $100 (£75) bills bearing the signatures of Trump and Bessent are expected to be printed in June, with other denominations to follow.
Notes currently in circulation carry the signatures of former Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Treasurer Lynn Malerba, who served under former President Joe Biden. Since 1861, it has been standard practice for US banknotes to carry the signature of the US treasurer. Under the proposed changes, this long-standing tradition would be altered.
Ahead of the 250th anniversary, Bessent reiterated that printing currency bearing Trump’s name would be a “powerful way to recognise the historic achievements of the country” and the president.
