Dubai Flight Status: Several Flights Holding Over UAE Airspace During Iranian Attacks

Several flights were waiting or holding over the Dubai International Airport during missile attacks by Iran, which were intercepted by the UAE on Saturday morning, March 7. According to online airline tracker Flightradar24 data, a number of flights bound for UAE airports are in a holding pattern.

Fire and smoke were reported near Dubai International Airport after a suspected Iranian missile or drone was intercepted this morning. The incident was confirmed by Dubai Media Office (DMO) and termed as a “minor incident resulting from the fall of debris after an interception”.

DMO also denied reports circulating on social media about any fire and smoke incidents at Dubai International Airport. According to the Flightradar24 map, matter aircrafts pattern shows flights circling over the airspace waiting for an Air Traffic Signal (ATS) to ensure a safe landing during possible Iranian missile interception.

Further pattern shared by FlightRadar24, aircraft were seen starting to move closer towards the airport in Dubai,  “Additional aircraft have now moved to a closer hold to the airport, though arrivals have not yet resumed," the tracker said in a post.

As per the data shared by FlightRadar24, flights including Delhi (DEL) to Dubai (DXB), Zurich (ZRH) to Dubai (DXB), Ljubljana (LJU) to Dubai (DXB), Munich (MUC) to Dubai (DXB), Tokyo to Dubai and BLR (Bengaluru) to DXB (Dubai) were hovering in the air space. 

The development came as the conflict between the United States and Iran continued into its second week, raising security concerns across the Middle East region.
