Explosion Rocks Russian Consulate in Marseille No Casualties Reported; Terror Activity Suspected

At the Russian Consulate in Marseille, an explosion was heard on February 24. The local news channels have reported that unidentified assailants attacked the building with Molotov cocktails. Russia demanded a full French investigation of the matter stating that it was an act of terrorism, reported news agency TASS.

No casualties or damage has been reported till now.

TASS quoted the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova as saying, "The explosions on the territory of the Russian Consulate General in Marseille have all the hallmarks of a terrorist attack."

She further demanded a prompt investigation of the matter from France.

About 30 firefighters and police officials were deployed at the location after hearing the explosion.
