Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara said the 37-year-old man, who died on Saturday morning, January 24, was a US citizen and resident of Minneapolis. He said after receiving the information, the police reached the spot at around 9.03 am and found officers of the Federal department in the area of 26th Street W and Nicollet Ave on the southside of the city.
O'Hara said when officers arrived at the scene found a male with gun wounds. He was transported by ambulance to help at the medical centre, where he was pronounced dead. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a statement on the shooting in Minneapolis, where an alleged illegal immigrant was shot dead by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents during an operation against an illegal alien wanted for violent assault.
DHS claimed that the deceased man approached law enforcement officers with a '9 mm semi-automatic handgun.' "US Border Patrol officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted," DHS in a post on X (formerly Twitter) about the incident.

The Homeland Security Department said that the deceased suspect was carrying 2 magazines and no ID. "This looks like a situation where an individual wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement."
"About 200 rioters arrived at the scene and began to obstruct and assault law enforcement on the scene, crowd control measures were deployed for the safety of the public and law enforcement. This situation is evolving, and more information is forthcoming," DHS concluded the post.
A new video appears to show the moments leading up to a fatal shooting by federal agents in Minneapolis, with the individual appearing to simply record on his phone as agents escalated the situation.
