Nevada Shooting: Child Among Two Killed at Elko Regional Airport

Two, including a child, were killed in a shooting at Elko Regional Airport, Nevada on Monday, April 13. The airport was temporarily shut for passenger traffic. 

The 'active shooter' incident was reported at around 12.30 pm. The relation between the victims and the gunman has not been revealed.  Official confirmed not a threat to the public at 2.45 pm. The airport is still closed, and they hope to have it back open sometime Monday night.

Jim Foster, Airport Manager, confirmed that there was a full evacuation of the area where the shooting occurred. There is only one terminal at the airport, and it is fully closed. He said that the airport is closed until further notice.

The inbound Salt Lake City flights, which were scheduled to land tonight, were suspended. Additionally, the outbound flights for the morning were also cancelled.

“Police are investigating a crime scene at the Elko Airport. The airport is closed to all traffic at this time. We will update you when it is back open,” Elko Police Department (EPD) said in an online statement. At this time, officials have not provided any additional details on the closure, including the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
