Chivda is one lipsmacking Diwali snack that takes less time to cook compared to other snacks. Though it is a Diwali snack, it is all time favorite. It has got a good shelf life. It is a crispy Maharashtrian snack made by roasting the thin poha and adding a few spices and nuts. It can be a good tea time snack too.

On the auspicious occasion of Diwali 2020 learn how to make 'Chivda' at home. Diwali 2020 is one of the most anticipated times of the year and preparations for it have begun with the start of the month itself. While some are cleaning their homes, others are wondering what snacks to make at home. Each Diwali festival, people make traditional snacks which is often called the Diwali faral. 

Check out the quick and easy recipe for 'Chivda' below: Ingredients:• 3 cups Thin Poha• 2 tsp Oil• Mustard seeds• Cumin seeds• 2 Green chilies• Curry leaves• Raw peanuts• Cashew nuts• Dal• Asafoetida• Turmeric powder• Salt to taste• Powdered sugar

Method:• Sieve the poha well. • Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard and let it sizzle up. • Add cumin seeds and let them pop up. • Add green chilies and curry leaves. Fry for a minute. • Add peanuts and again fry for a minute. • When peanuts begin to turn reddish, add cashew nuts and dal. Again fry for a minute. • When cashews begin to turn reddish, add asafoetida and turmeric powder. Mix well. • Add poha. Lower the heat while adding poha and mix well. • Roast the chivda on low heat for about 4-5 minutes. • Turn off the heat. Add salt and powdered sugar. Mix well again. Patal Poha chivda is already. • You can add 1/2 tsp chat masala if you like. • When chivda cools down completely, store it in airtight container or zip lock bag. • It has got shelf life of 3-4 weeks.
