Observing fast on Sankashta Chaturthi is consider auspicious as lord ganesha. On every Sankashti, Ganesha devotees worship Ganpati Bappa in their own way and manner. Sankashti Chaturthi fast worship ritual
On Sankashta Chaturthi, wake up early and bathe. Fast throughout the day and perform the Shodshopaar Puja of Ganapati Bappa. Anoint the Ganapati idol with pure water, chanting the Atharvashirsha 21 times (or the mantra ‘Om Gan Ganapataye Namah’ 108 times) during the abhishekam. Offer flowers, incense, lamps, and nevaidya while chanting Lord Ganesha's names. Finally, partake in and distribute the prasad.
Ritual should follow after moonrise
On Sankashta Chaturthi, observe the moonrise time at night, light incense and lamps, and offer prayers to Lord Ganesha. After sighting the moon, offer Arghya to it and break the fast with Jasvanda flowers and Durva, performing aarti of Lord Ganesha. Offering Jasvanda flowers and Durva to Lord Ganesha on this day is considered important. If other rituals are not possible, recite or listen to Atharvashirsha with devotion. It's believed that the fast should only be broken after sighting the moon.
Do these things on Sankashta Chaturthi
On the day of Sankashta Chaturthi, one pair of Durvas should be offered to Lord Ganesha. If possible, 21 pairs of Durvas should be offered. By doing this, Lord Ganesha becomes pleased. It is said that he bestows happiness, prosperity and wisdom. It is said that without offering Durvas, the worship of Lord Ganesha is not complete and the merit of worship is not attained. Jaswandi flowers, which are dear to Lord Ganesha, should be offered. It is said that by doing this, Lord Ganesha becomes pleased and bestows blessings.
