Ajit Pawar Funeral: Mortal Remains of Maharashtra Deputy CM Brought to Vidya Pratishthan, People Turns Up in Large Numbers to Pay Last Respects (VIDEO)

Ajit Pawar Funeral: The mortal remains of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar were kept at the Vidya Pratishthan complex in Baramati on Tuesday for public viewing until 10 p.m. Supporters from across the state gathered to pay their last respects, chanting “Dada… Dada…” in tribute to the leader.

The state funeral will be held at the same ground on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 11 a.m.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are scheduled to visit Baramati Wednesday morning to offer condolences to the Pawar family. The Indian Air Force has taken charge of Baramati airport, and strict security arrangements are in place.

Schedule:

  • Until 10 p.m., Jan. 28: Public viewing at Vidya Pratishthan; timing may be extended due to large crowds.

  • 6–9 a.m., Jan. 29: Body to be taken to his ancestral home in Katewadi.

  • 9–11 a.m., Jan. 29: Final public viewing at Vidya Pratishthan.

  • 11 a.m., Jan. 29: State funeral and last rites with full honours.
