Beed: A shocking murder over a family dispute has sent shockwaves through Surdi village in Beed district. A 55-year-old tipper driver was allegedly beaten to death with a stick by a Gram Panchayat employee from the same village on Tuesday afternoon near a hotel at Surdi Phata in the Mangwadgaon area. The deceased has been identified as Khushalram Balbhim Thombre (55), while the accused, Mangesh Bharat Mane (32), has been taken into custody in connection with the case.

According to preliminary information, the two were involved in an ongoing family dispute, which allegedly escalated into a violent confrontation. During the altercation, the accused allegedly assaulted Thombre with a stick, causing fatal injuries. Mangesh Mane allegedly used a family dispute from the previous Monday as a pretext to fatally attack Khushalram Thombre with a wooden stick. Thombre collapsed and died at the scene. He was pronounced dead at the Sub-District Hospital in Kalamb (Dharsashiv district).

Following a complaint by Thombre's son, Balaji Thombre, a murder case was filed against Mane at the Yusufwadgaon Police Station on Tuesday night. The funeral was held in Surdi on Wednesday afternoon. Assistant Police Inspector Machhindranath Shendge conducted the panchnama, and the investigation is ongoing.
