Bhandup fire incident: How many more deaths does MVA govt need, slams Fadnavis
A fire had broken out at a private COVID-19 hospital in Mumbai's Bhandup area in Sunrise Hospital in Dreams Mall on Thursday night. Taking note of this, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray went to the spot and reviewed the situation. Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis has criticized the Thackeray government and said that the government will wake up after the death of many more people.
"In the fire incident, negligence and laxity of the government and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation can be clearly. How many more deaths does this MVA government need to take safety precautions at all such hospitals and COVID centres. We demand strict action against everyone responsible for not carrying out the safety audit.
MVA Government must own it up and take responsibility now," said Devendra Fadnavis.
Unfortunately a fire broke out in the area below the hospital and spread to the top. There was an attempt to evacuate all the Covid patients who were admitted there. But some were on a ventilator and it took time to remove them. Other patients were released but it took time to release them and they died, said Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Thackeray also announced Rs 5 lakh assistance from the government to the relatives of the deceased.
