The Malvan Municipal Council on Monday demolished a scrap shop a day after its owner allegedly shouted “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans following Rohit Sharma’s dismissal during the India-Pakistan Champions Trophy match. A video of a bulldozer razing the shop has surfaced online.

According to reports, the scrap dealer based in the Adwan area shouted the slogans after Rohit Sharma’s wicket. When confronted by locals, an argument broke out. The matter reached the police, who took two accused into custody. On Monday morning, residents staged a rally demanding action against illegal Bangladeshi and migrant settlers in the town. Following the protest, civic officials deployed a JCB machine to demolish the shop.

Shiv Sena MLA Nilesh Rane condemned the incident and said the accused would be expelled from the district. He also praised the administration for its swift response.

India secured a dominant win over Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Batting first, Pakistan started steadily with Babar Azam scoring 23 and Imam-ul-Haq adding 10. The opening pair built a 41-run partnership before Hardik Pandya dismissed Babar and Imam was run out. Saud Shakeel (62) and Mohammad Rizwan (47) steadied the innings with a 104-run stand. However, Indian spinners tightened their grip, leading to Pakistan’s collapse at 241. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets.

India's chase began positively with Rohit Sharma scoring 20. After his dismissal, Shubman Gill (46) and Virat Kohli (100*) built a strong 69-run stand. Shreyas Iyer (56) played a key role at No. 4, adding 114 runs with Kohli. The former perished, but Kohli ensured India's six-wicket victory, marking his 51st ODI century.

With this win, India registered its second consecutive victory in the tournament and moved one step closer to the semifinals.
