CBI To High Court: Maharashtra govt refusing to co-operate in probe against Anil Deshmukh

The probe into the corruption case is not limited to former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. Sachin Vaze, Parambir Singh and all concerned will be questioned. However, the Maharashtra government is refusing to provide the required documents, the CBI told the high court on Monday. The state government has filed a petition in the high court to omit some paragraphs from the FIR registered against Anil Deshmukh. The state government has alleged in the petition that the CBI is investigating the case, going beyond the High Court order. 

The petition will be heard. S. S. Shinde and Justice. N. R. Was in front of the Jemadar's bench. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the CBI, argued before the bench. This is an opportunity for the state government to "clean up" the entire administration as the CBI is investigating as per the High Court order. However, Mehta said the Maharashtra government was refusing to co-operate with the CBI, adding that the state government was investigating the case beyond the order of the CBI High Court.

The CBI is interfering in the ongoing probe into the phone tapping of IPS officer Rashmi Shukla in the Anil Deshmukh corruption case, alleged senior advocate Rafiq Dada on behalf of the state government. Jayashree Patil has demanded a CBI probe on the basis of Parambir Singh's letter and the CBI is investigating the matter after Singh mentioned in the letter about Sachin Vaze's appointment and Deshmukh's interference in police transfers and appointments. Mehta argued that the CBI was investigating within limits.

Despite seeing Sachin Vaze's past, his reinstatement after 15 years and police transfers and appointments are all linked to the Anil Deshmukh corruption case, Mehta told the court. Who was on the committee that re-appointed Vaze? The court asked Mehta this question. Mehta informed that the committee includes Parambir Singh and two others. Did the CBI investigate the members of this committee? On what basis was Vaze reinstated? Did you inquire about this too? The court also asked Mehta such questions. The state government does not provide documents in this regard.

The committee wants to know whether the decision to reinstate Vaze was taken by the committee itself or at the behalf of someone else. The findings of the inquiry may lead to Parambir Singh and other accused. Mehta told the court that the probe was not only against Deshmukh and Vaze. Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh, on behalf of the CBI, argued that any impediment to the impartial inquiry into the Anil Deshmukh case would defeat the purpose of the High Court order dated April 5.
