The number of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai are increasing day by day. Considering the grim situation, Central committee on Wednesday suggested to increase the capacity of quarantine facility in the city from 1,200 beds to 2,000, said Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope.

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope and the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) on Wednesday reviewed the situation in Mumbai. The team also visited quarantine facility at Dharavi transit camp in Mumbai.

These teams have been assigned to review the ground situation in Mumbai and Pune and later they will submit a report to the central government.

"The Central committee has directed the state authorities to provide with minimum oxygen supply to patients undergoing treatment, this will help in easing breathing problems if any," the minister said.

Keeping the suggestion of the central committee in mind, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has been asked to make arrangements for more beds and increase testing across Mumbai, Tope said.
