Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 57,640 new coronavirus infections, which took the state's case tally to 48,80,542, while 920 fatalities, the highest in a day so far, pushed the death toll to 72,662, the health department said.There are 6,41,596 active cases in Maharashtra as of now. As many as 57,006 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals in a day, which took the count of recoveries to 41,64,098.
The virus has penetrated into small towns and rural areas which has put burden on the administration to control the spread. The Union Health Ministry has warned of a third wave of corona in the rainy season. Therefore, the state government is going to recruit people for 16,000 posts in the health department. Health Minister Rajesh Tope gave this information. This will include a total of 12,000 posts in Class C and D, and 2,000 posts each in Class A and B.
The decision-making process at the government level will be carried out within the next week and the recruitment process will be started accordingly, said Health Minister Rajesh Tope.Rajesh Tope informed that a decision has been taken in the cabinet meeting to give full authority to the health department, deputy chief minister and chief minister to take further decision in this regard. We said in the cabinet meeting that 100 per cent recruitment is required for posts related to patient care. This decision will be taken at the level of Health Department, Deputy Chief Minister and Chief Minister in the next 2-3 days. After that, examinations will be held immediately, Tope said.
Rajesh Tope also informed about the number of vacancies for each class. We are deciding to fill 12,000 posts in Class C and D, 2,000 posts of Doctor-Medical Officers in Class B and 2,000 posts of Specialists. The examination for Class C and D will then be conducted through the agency. Class B interviews will be conducted through the Principal Secretary, Department of Health. The selection for class A will be sent to MPSC,” said Tope.
