COVID-19: Vaccination resumes in Mumbai's 62 out of 71 private hospitals from today

Amid rise in covid cases in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday resumed vaccination drive at 62 out of 71 vaccination centres at private hospitals in the city after receiving an fresh stock of COVID 19 vaccines.

“With the availability of Covid-19 vaccine stock to BMC, Covid-19 vaccination will be resumed in 62 out of 71 private hospitals in Mumbai from Monday, April 12, 2021,” BMC said in an official statement.

The BMC has set up 49 vaccination centres at government hospitals and 71 centres at private hospitals in Mumbai. At all these centres, an average of 40,000 to 50,000 people are vaccinated every day.

Vaccination was temporarily halted for two days on Saturday and Sunday at 71 private hospitals in Mumbai due to the shortage of vaccine.

"The BMC received 99,000 doses late on April 9. On April 10, 1,34,970 doses were received. The BMC received a total of 2,33,970 doses in the last two days. The civic body has disbursed some stock to the private hospitals. The vaccination will commence in 62 of the 71 private hospitals from April 12,” the BMC said in a statement.
