Former Police Commissioner of Mumbai Dhananjay Jadhav passes away

Former Commissioner of Police Dhananjay Jadhav breathed his last today while undergoing treatment at a hospital. He was 74 years old. Dhananjay Jadhav had been suffering from heart ailments for the last few days. Dhananjay Jadhav will be cremated at his native village Pusegaon in Satara.

He is survived by his son and two daughters.

Dhananjay Jadhav was an IPS officer in the 1973 batch. In 1992, he was honored by the President with a Police Medal for his outstanding performance. Dhananjay Jadhav was honored with several awards. In 2007, Dhananjay Jadhav took over as Mumbai Police Commissioner. Jadhav was promoted to the post of Upper Director General of Police and was given the responsibility of heading the Highway Safety Squad.

Dhananjay Jadhav was born in 1947. After completing his primary education in Pusegaon, Satara, he came to Wai for further education. After completing his M.Sc, he joined Raigad as an Education Officer.

At the same time, he passed the UPSC examination in 1972, his first appointment as IPS was at Dhule. After that Dhananjay Jadhav was working as Superintendent of Police at Wardha, Pune Highway, Ahmednagar.
