German Woman Raped in Thailand: Two Indian Tourists from Maharashtra's Satara Held
The increasing incidents of atrocities against women in recent days have posed a significant challenge to the state government and the police machinery. The rising number of atrocities against women has created an atmosphere of concern among citizens. In this context, the actions of two youths from Satara while traveling abroad have brought shame to the country. The two men had gone to Thailand for a trip, where they were found to have raped a German woman. They have been arrested in this case.
According to the information received, the accused from Koregaon in Satara had gone to Thailand for a trip. While traveling there, they went to Rinn Beach in Surat Thani Province. There, both of them raped a German woman. The victim filed a complaint at the Koh Phangan Police Station. Following this, the police started an investigation. Based on CCTV footage and witness statements, the police arrested the two. Currently, they are in jail, and the police are investigating the matter.
According to Pol Col Apichart Chansamret, chief of Koh Pha Ngan police station, Dadasaheb confessed, while Balasaheb has denied it and claimed he did not rape the woman but only hugged and kissed her on the cheek though she resisted. The suspects have been charged with 'rape by forcibly abusing a victim in a defenceless situation.' The offence carries a jail term of 4-20 years and a fine up to 400,000 baht (₹10,33 lakh).
