Gondia Tragedy: Class 5 Student Dies After School Gate Collapses on Her in Tiroda
Maharashtra: A 11-year-old girl lost her life in a tragic accident after a school gate collapsed on her as she was leaving for home in Lodhitola on Saturday, April 11, 2026. The deceased has been identified as Nirali Manish Chafle, a Class 5 student of PM Shri Rani Avantibai Primary School, which is operated by the Municipal Council. The incident occurred at around 1:00 PM, shortly after school hours.
According to reports, Nirali was exiting the school premises with her mother, who is a teacher at the same institution. As she came into contact with the main entrance gate, the heavy iron sliding structure suddenly gave way and fell on her, causing severe injuries. She was immediately rescued and rushed to a hospital in Tiroda. However, due to her critical condition, doctors advised that she be shifted to Gondia for advanced treatment, but Nirali succumbed to her injuries while being shifted.
According to reports, the school’s main entrance gate had been in a severely dilapidated and hazardous condition for several days. The sliding iron gate posed a serious safety risk, leading parents to repeatedly urge authorities to carry out immediate repairs. A proposal regarding the issue was reportedly pending with the Municipal Council. Meanwhile, the school administration had advised students to stay away from the gate due to the potential danger.
The incident took place at the Municipal Council-run PM Shri Rani Avantibai Primary School in Lodhitola. Notably, the same gate had collapsed on four previous occasions, and one such incident had even left a person injured. Despite these repeated warnings, no concrete action was taken by the authorities.
