Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Dhairyasheel Mohite Patil To Join Sharad Pawar's NCP, To Contest Against BJP's Nimbalkar From Madha

BJP leader and scion of politically heavyweight Mohite Patil family, Dhairyasheel Mohite Patil, is all set to join the Nationalist Congress Party- Sharad Chandra Pawar (NCP-SCP) on April 14. He will also file his nomination from the NCP on April 16, according to his supporters. The development comes after Dhairyasheel met Pawar at his residence on Wednesday. Mohite Patil was earlier denied a ticket for the Madha constituency by the BJP, which re-nominated it's sitting MP Ranjeetsinh Naik Nimbalkar.

Dhariyasheel is nephew of former NCP minister Vijaysingh Mohite Patil, a veteran politician from Madha, who switched his allegiance to the BJP in 2019. The Mohite Patil family is now angered by the BJP's decision to not field its scion from Madha.

Reports indicate that a public meeting is slated to take place in Akluj, with the presence of Sharad Pawar, prior to the entry of the Dhairyasheel Mohite Patil into the party fold. Subsequently, it is anticipated that he will formally file his nomination alongside Praniti Shinde, the Congress candidate from Solapur, on April 16th.

After being given another opportunity by the BJP, Ranjitsinh Nimbalkar faced opposition from the resolute Mohite Patil. Mohite Patil endeavored to persuade the BJP to reconsider their candidate selection from Madha, albeit unsuccessfully. Concurrently, BJP leaders made efforts to assuage Mohite Patil's discontent, yet their attempts proved futile.

Sharad Pawar too had earlier tried to persuade Rashtriya Samaj Paksha (RSP) Chief Mahadev Jankar to contest from Madha against Nimbalkar. Speculations around Jankar's entry into MVA began after he met Sharad Pawar and expressed support for his NCP in the Baramati seat. However, a week later, Jankar sprung a surprise by rejoining the Mahayuti, comprising of BJP, NCP and Shiv Sena. Jankar is now set to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Parbhani.
