As the monsoon session of the state legislature prepares to begin on August 3, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Nana Patole's personal assistant has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to sources, Patole's personal assitant along with his two close relatives are currently undergoing treatment at the Bombay Hospital.

Against this backdrop, preparations are underway to seal the office of Assembly Speaker Nana Patole. Amid the increasing number of cases the legislature secretariat, through an order issued on July 13, made 50% attendance mandatory for its employees. However, the decision is likely to be reconsidered as the number of coronavirus cases among the legislature staff is increasing. The Assembly Speaker's personal assistant testing covid-19 positive has come as a shock to the Vidhan Bhavan employees.

The employees of Vidhan Bhavan employees were upset with the order of making attendance mandatory, despite 17 members of the legislature, including four police personnel, testing covid-19 positive.
