Maharashtra Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to set up Skill University in the state.

Today the state cabinet meeting was held in which it was decided to set up a skill university in the state

After the cabinet meeting, the Minister of skill development Nawab Malik said, "In the upcoming Assembly session the state government will introduce this, as today the state cabinet has approved the proposal to set up a skill university and in 18 months this university will be established."

A statement from the Maharashtra government read, "Considering the large network of industry groups in Maharashtra and the huge employment opportunities, it was necessary to set up a Public Skills University in the state. The purpose of establishing a Skills University is to create a skilled and diverse manpower as per the demand of the industry. Mumbai is the financial capital of the country."

"The Approval was also given to provide funds of around Rs 50 crore per annum for university administration and building expenses," the statement added.
