The IMD has also predicted that hot and humid conditions are likely to continue in isolated pockets of Konkan-Goa, particularly in Ratnagiri district.

According to the weather bulletin issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), thunderstorms were reported at isolated places in South Konkan-Goa, South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. Rainfall occurred at a few places across Konkan-Goa and at isolated locations in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and the Gujarat region. Weather conditions remained dry over Saurashtra and Kutch.

May 16

Light rain or thundershowers may return to isolated parts of South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. Konkan-Goa and North Madhya Maharashtra are likely to remain partly cloudy.

Low-Pressure Area Likely Over Bay of Bengal

The IMD said an upper air cyclonic circulation persists over the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Sri Lanka, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the southwest Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours.

A trough in easterly winds is also extending from North Interior Karnataka to the cyclonic circulation over the Gulf of Mannar across South Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Due to a steep pressure gradient, strong winds are likely to prevail along and off the North and South Gujarat coasts, while weather conditions over the remaining Arabian Sea are expected to remain seasonal.
