Maharashtra : A shocking incident of abusing and punching a tax officer and a municipal employee , who had gone to Padmavati Nagar, Tal. Phaltan, for tax collection, came to light on Sunday. In this case, a case has been registered against two accused at the Phaltan City Police Station.
As per the order given by the Phaltan Chief Officer, on Sunday, March 01, 2026, at around 12:45 am, a team of municipal tax officers, recovery clerks and constables went to Padmavati Nagar for tax collection. Since the house rent of an arrears woman was in arrears for many years, the team asked her to pay the tax. To this, she gave vague answers. After it became clear that the concerned citizen was not paying the outstanding bill, a municipal employee started the action of disconnecting his water connection.
Angered by this action, the concerned woman and a young man from the house ran towards the employee, using abusive language and assaulting him. A soldier from the squad was filming this incident being carried out by the citizens on his mobile. On seeing this, the concerned woman ran towards the soldier, slapped him hard on the cheek and knocked down the mobile in his hand. In this case, a case has been registered against the duo at the Phaltan City Police Station for obstructing government work.
