Mumbai: 51 year old man refuses to take parcel from Muslim delivery boy, arrested
In a shocking incident, a 51-year-old man Gajanan Chaturvedi, who refused to collect his parcel from a delivery man after knowing that he was a Muslim was arrested in Mumbai on Tuesday. The delivery boy recorded his Islamophobic comments and showed it to the Police. After fews hours of recording the video the man was arrested.
The delivery boy identified himself as Barkat Patel, a Mira Road resident working with grocery service Grofers.
According to the video made by delivery boy, the accused first wanted to know the name of the delivery man.
“The lady wanted to take the parcel but the man said no. When he said he would not take parcel from Muslims, I did not say anything and started to record him on my phone. It was very hurtful,” he said.
Patel registered a complaint at Kashimira police station on Tuesday evening. Gajanan Chaturvedi was booked under the Indian Penal Code for committing a deliberate or malicious act with the intention of outraging Patel’s religious feelings and beliefs.
