Palghar News: Railway Employee Dies Under Suspicious Circumstances After Alleged Extortion Threats
A shocking incident of crime has come to light where a railway employee died in a suspicious way. Two individuals have been accused of allegedly driving the young man to death by threatening to implicate him in a false criminal case and demanding money. The deceased identified as Lalji Ramasajeevan Saroj, who was employed as a fitter in the Indian Railways. Following the incident, the Virar Police have registered a case against two individuals for abetment to suicide.
Lalji Saroj, a resident of Jagannath Apartment in Phulpada, Virar East, was staying alone while his wife and children were in their native village. On May 13, neighbors noticed a foul odor from his apartment and informed his relatives, who in turn alerted the Virar Police. Police arrived to find Lalji in a pool of blood with a severe neck wound from a sharp weapon. A blood-stained knife was found near his body. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the rural hospital.
Lalji's death, initially a mystery, took a dark turn after his brother filed a complaint at the Virar Police Station. The complaint alleges that Rakesh Tiwari and Aslam Sheikh had been mentally harassing Lalji, extorting ₹5 lakh with threats of a false POCSO case. The family further claims that Lalji was forcibly assaulted and coerced into consuming alcohol. Before his death, Lalji informed his brother about the threats, stating he was forced into hiding.
The family alleges that the relentless mental torture and blackmail drove Lalji to suicide. Rakesh Tiwari, posing as a journalist, is considered the prime suspect. Recognizing the severity of the allegations, the Virar Police have registered a case against Tiwari and Sheikh.
