The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers on Monday protested against 'inflated' power bills at the MSEDCL office at Lokmanya Nagar in Thane. During the protest, MNS workers locked the entrance of MSEDCL office and shouted slogans against MSEDCL outside the gate.

Due to coronavirus and lockdown, people are inside their houses for the last four to five months and many have lost their jobs. Many people had to do work from home, while many became unemployed. Unemployment has hit many financially. The state government did not provide any financial relief to the people during this natural calamity.

During this crisis, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation sent the average electricity bill to the customers without taking the electricity meter reading. Customers have been given increased electricity bills during the lockdown period. MNS deputy city president Pushkaraj Vichare, Saurabh Naik, Nilesh Chaudhary, Rajendra Kamble and others were present during the protest.
