In a devastating turn of events on Sunday, tragedy struck the Range Hill area of Khadki in Pune as a son reportedly took the life of his mother by slashing her throat with a knife. The motive behind the brutal act is believed to be suspicions regarding his mother's involvement in his divorce. The accused, identified as Dnyaneshwar Shankar Pawar, aged 29 and a resident of Khadki, was swiftly apprehended by authorities in Shirdi following the incident. A case has been filed against him as the investigation progresses.
The victim, Gunfabai Shankar Pawar, aged 55 and a resident of Srirampur, district Ahmednagar, leaves behind two children. Dnyaneshwar, employed as a technician in the telecommunication department of an ammunition factory in Khadki, resided in the Ammunition Factory staff quarters. His brother resides in the Dehurod area of Pune. The tragic incident unfolded on Saturday night when the victim, who had come to Pune to visit her children, stayed at Dnyaneshwar's house. Reportedly suffering from depression following his divorce a few years prior, Dnyaneshwar harbored suspicions towards his mother regarding the dissolution of his marriage.
Under the cover of darkness and while his mother slept, Dnyaneshwar entered her room and committed the heinous act, slitting her throat with a knife. Subsequently, he locked the house and fled the scene.The alarm was raised on Sunday morning when the victim's relatives from Ahmednagar failed to reach her on her mobile phone. Concerned by the lack of response, they contacted Dnyaneshwar's brother, who discovered the grim scene upon visiting the Khadki residence. Gunfabai was found lifeless in a pool of blood, marking the tragic end to a familial relationship marred by suspicion and violence.
