Mumbai: City will be observing the public holiday on February 19, 2026 in the view of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a legendary Indian warrior king and the founder of the Maratha Empire in the 17th century. Born in 1630, he is celebrated for his exceptional leadership, vision, and military strategies that established a strong and independent Maratha kingdom in western India.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti holiday will be observed across the cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, and Kolhapur celebrate Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's life and achievements with cultural events, processions, and local programs. Devotees honor him with rallies and dhol beats, while many visit significant forts like Shivneri, Raigad, and Pratapgad to pay respects and commemorate his legacy.
