Tejashwi Ghosalkar joined the BJP a few days before the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2026 and secured victory from Dahisar Ward No. 2 in Mumbai on Friday, January 16. The Shiv Sena UBT fielded her former friend against her, turning the contest into a closely watched battle. However, voters in Dahisar backed Ghosalkar, who went on to win by a large margin.
Several political developments in the BMC polls have drawn statewide attention, particularly in Dahisar’s Ward Number 2. Discontent within parties was visible after several loyal workers were denied tickets. The situation gained further attention following the Facebook Live murder case in Dahisar, which led to a political split within the Ghosalkar family.

The BJP candidate led from the very first round of counting. By the end of the second round, Tejashwi had secured 11,964 votes, while Shiv Sena UBT candidate Dhanashree Kolge got 4,115 votes. Tejashwi won the ward with 16,484 votes, defeating Kolge, who received 5,729 votes. The winning margin stood at 10,755 votes.
