‘Everyone Has Right To Express Their Opinions, but…’, Ajit Pawar Reacts to Comedian Kunal Kamra’s Remarks on Eknath Shinde (Watch Video)
Popular comedian Kunal Kamra has come under scrutiny following his recent stand-up comedy gig, where he allegedly made a joke about Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, calling him a gaddar (traitor). The remark sparked outrage, leading to a ruckus and vandalism at a hotel in Mumbai’s Khar area, where Kamra had performed. A group of vandals stormed Hotel Unicontinental in Khar, ransacking the premises and demanding that an FIR be registered against Kamra. While commenting on the matter Deputy CM Ajit Pawar stated that, Constitution has given right to speak, but we should think before we speak.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar addressed comedian Kunal Kamra's gaddar (traitor) remark against Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, stating, "I believe that no one should act beyond the law, constitution, or established rules. Everyone has the right to express their opinions, but they must do so responsibly. Differences of opinion may exist, but one should be mindful that their statements do not lead to situations where the police have to intervene."

Meanwhile, according to a police official, the party workers reached the hotel's auditorium after a video of Kamra’s jibe against Shinde went viral on social media. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut also posted the video on X, saying, “Kunal Ka Kamal.” Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel lodged an FIR at MIDC police station against comedian Kunal Kamra for his remarks on Maharashtra DCM Eknath Shinde.
What did Kunal Kamra Said?
Comedian Kunal Kamra mocked Chief Minister Shinde with a parody song, drawing audience laughter. Sena MP Naresh Mhaske responded with a threat, warning Kamra he would be hounded by Sena workers nationwide and forced to leave India.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray condemned the subsequent attack on the comedy show's set as cowardly, stating Kamra's song was "100 per cent true" and questioning the state's law and order situation. Thackeray, who consistently uses the derogatory "Mindhe" (subservient) when referring to Shinde, suggested the incident was another attempt to undermine the CM.
