Kunal Kamra Summoned by Mumbai Police Over Eknath Shinde Remarks, Asked to Appear at 11 AM Today
Standup comedian Kunal Kamra was summoned by Mumbai Police on Tuesday, March 25, over his alleged remarks against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Ekanth Shinde. The Khar police asked the comedian to appear before the investigation officer at 11 am today.
Earlier, MIDC police registered an FIR against Kamra for his remarks during his latest comedy show, which was performed and recorded at The Habitat club in Khar. The case was later transferred to Khar police for further investigation, and Kamra was summoned by the Khar police.
According to the news agency IANS quoting Mumbai Police, the summons was sent via WhatsApp after a copy was delivered to his parents.
This comes after Kamra uploaded his latest comedy show on YouTube and other social media platforms, where he posted comments and made political remarks against various political parties, including Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena. Angered over his remarks against Shinde, Shiv Sainik vandalised a comedy clum in Khar and threatened Kamra.
While Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel filed an FIR against Kunal Kamra, Khar police in western Mumbai detained Shiv Sena deputy leader Rahool Kanal, Vibhag Pramukh Shrikant Sarmalkar, and others for vandalising the Unicontinetal The Habitat in Khar West.
