The Yellow Gate Police have busted a gang involved in theft at an ONGC company platform and arrested three accused in connection with the case. The arrested individuals have been identified as Chandrakant Dharamaji Patil, Santosh Krishna Patil, and Vidyadhar Gajanan Mhatre, all residents of Raigad district. Police have recovered stolen property worth approximately ₹15 lakh from their possession.

According to police officials, multiple theft incidents had been reported at the ONGC platform over the past few months, involving the theft of various materials by unidentified persons. Following these incidents, the company lodged a complaint at Yellow Gate Police Station. Based on four complaints, police registered four separate cases of theft.

Taking serious note of the matter, Additional Commissioner of Police Dr. Abhinav Deshmukh and Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijaykant Sagar directed Senior Police Inspector Chetan Rathod to conduct a detailed investigation.

Acting on these orders, a team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Pandharinath Patil and Senior Inspector Chetan Rathod launched a probe. During the investigation, the team detained Chandrakant Patil, Santosh Patil, and Vidyadhar Mhatre on suspicion.

During interrogation, it was revealed that all three accused are natives of Raigad. Chandrakant Patil owns a fishing boat, while the other two worked as his employees. The trio confessed to committing theft at the ONGC platform.

Police have recovered 49 batteries worth ₹10.70 lakh along with the fishing boat used in the crime. The total value of the seized property is estimated to be around ₹15 lakh.

Further investigation has led to the identification of additional suspects, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend them.
