Mumbai: 39-Year-Old CEO Dies After Falling from Andheri Building
A 39-year-old senior executive of a private mutual fund company, who had been reported missing since Monday, died in an accidental fall in Andheri, police said. The deceased has been identified as Pankit Vijay Shah. Preliminary investigation suggests that the incident was accidental and not a case of foul play.
According to police, Shah is suspected to have lost his balance while trying to retrieve his debit card, leading to the fatal fall. The Andheri Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and initiated further inquiry.
The incident occurred between 10 am and 10:15 am on Tuesday at Chadha Premises, located in Tel Galli, Andheri, near Hubtown Solaris. Shah, a resident of Vile Parle, had left his home on Monday but did not return. Concerned family members searched for him but were unable to establish contact. Subsequently, his parents filed a missing person complaint at Juhu Police Station.
While the search operation was underway, the Andheri Police received information around 10:15 am on Tuesday that a man had allegedly jumped from a building at Chadha Premises. Police rushed to the spot and found Shah lying in an injured condition. He was immediately shifted to Cooper Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at around 12:45 pm during treatment.
During preliminary investigation, police confirmed that the deceased was the same person reported missing since Monday. His parents were informed thereafter.
Shah was employed as a senior officer with a mutual fund company in Parel and had reportedly been promoted to the post of CEO last year. On Monday, he had left home and visited a friend. On Tuesday morning, he had gone to his friend’s office in Andheri, located on the fourth floor of Chadha Premises.
Police investigation revealed that while standing near a window in the office, Shah accidentally dropped his debit card. While attempting to retrieve it using a broom, he reportedly lost his balance and fell from the building.
Officials stated that there is no evidence of foul play in the incident so far. A case of accidental death has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
