A man allegedly created a ruckus inside the Santacruz Police Station and damaged government property following a dispute with his girlfriend. The accused, identified as Gaurav Ravindra Singh, was arrested by the Santacruz police and later released on notice.
The incident took place between 3:30 pm and 5:00 pm on Sunday at the Santacruz police station.
According to police sources, Singh, a resident of Sundernagar area near Colaba Market on Lala Nigam Road in Colaba, was in a relationship with a young woman. On Sunday, the couple had an argument following which the woman approached the Santacruz police station and lodged a complaint against him.
After learning about the complaint and the police action initiated against him, Singh reportedly reached the police station and began creating a disturbance. He allegedly abused Police Constable Kadale and attempted to charge at him. During the commotion, Singh pushed a government-owned Lexmark printer kept inside the station duty officer’s cabin, causing it to fall and sustain damage.
Despite repeated attempts by the police to calm him down, Singh continued to behave aggressively and allegedly obstructed official duties, leading to chaos inside the police station premises.
Based on a complaint filed by Police Sub-Inspector Sharad Landge, the police registered a case against Singh for damaging government property, verbally abusing police personnel, attempting to assault them, and obstructing public servants from discharging their duties. He was subsequently arrested and later released after being served a notice.
Further investigation is underway.
