A minor accident between two two-wheelers in South Mumbai’s Dongri area spiralled into a violent confrontation, leaving three individuals injured. According to police, the incident occurred on April 12 at around 7:30 pm, when Syed Mohammad Ashraf (30) was returning home on his scooter via Pala Galli. During the journey, his vehicle collided slightly with a motorcycle ridden by a youth, identified as the son of a local resident, Majid Lala. When Ashraf questioned the rider about the collision, the situation quickly turned tense, eventually escalating into a serious dispute between the two parties.
Police stated that the youth allegedly reacted aggressively and used abusive language during the argument. The confrontation worsened when the rider reportedly made a video call to his father, Majid Lala, during which both individuals are said to have verbally abused Ashraf. Shortly after, around 7:40 pm, Ashraf’s father, Syed Mohammad Khalid Ashraf (64), along with his two sons, was travelling on scooters to attend a family function. As they reached Nishanpada Road near Dawood Fazal School, a group of nearly 10 to 12 people allegedly stopped them and began confronting the family.

During the confrontation, one of the accused, identified as Piru, allegedly pointed out Ashraf, claiming he was someone who spoke against drug-related activities. The group then reportedly began verbally abusing the family and soon turned violent. Despite the complainant trying to calm the situation and introducing himself, the mob allegedly attacked them using chairs, sticks, bamboo poles, and even a wooden ladder. In the assault, the elder son, Syed Moheej Ashraf, sustained serious injuries to his left hand and other parts of his body, while the younger son, Syed Peer Zahid Shahid Ashraf, suffered injuries to his back and waist.
The complainant also sustained injuries to his hands and legs during the attack. Based on his statement, Dongri Police registered a case against Majid Lala and several others, including Raheel, Sahil, Zihan, and Arbaaz, along with four to five unidentified individuals. The charges include assault, verbal abuse, and attempt to murder. Police have so far arrested three accused — Mohammad Jayan Parvez Khan (24), Mohammad Raheel Majid Khan (18), and Majid Khalid Khan (45), all residents of Dongri. One minor has also been detained, while efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining suspects.
