Following the deaths of two individuals allegedly due to drug consumption at NESCO Ground, Mumbai Police has intensified its crackdown on narcotics and drug traffickers across the city. In a major operation, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) has arrested a drug peddler and seized a significant quantity of banned substances.

The accused, identified as Irfan Ali Ansari, was apprehended from the Sakinaka area of Mumbai. Police recovered 200 ecstasy (MDMA) pills from his possession, valued at approximately ₹26 lakh in the illegal market.

According to police sources, Ansari has a prior criminal record. He was earlier arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in 2021 in a drug-related case and had spent nearly four years in जेल. He was released about a year ago.

During the arrest, police also seized a mobile phone from the accused, which contains multiple contact numbers. Investigators are now examining whether any of these contacts are linked to the party held at NESCO Ground where the fatalities occurred.

The accused was produced before a court on Wednesday, which remanded him to police custody until April 20. Further investigation in the case is underway.
