Mumbai: Fight Over Rs 10 Coriander Turns Violent in Kurla; Vendor Attacks Customer With Knife, Case Registered
A minor dispute over the price of coriander took a serious turn in Kurla after a vegetable vendor allegedly attacked a customer with a knife, leaving him injured. The V.B. Nagar Police Station has registered a case under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated an investigation.
According to police sources, Srinivas Kamble runs a vegetable stall in the locality, primarily selling coriander and other greens. On the day of the incident, the complainant visited his stall and purchased coriander. Kamble allegedly demanded ₹20 for the bunch. However, the customer insisted on paying only ₹10, claiming he was aware of the local rates as he resides in the same area.
The disagreement soon escalated into a heated argument, creating tension at the spot. In a fit of anger, Kamble allegedly attacked the complainant with a knife he was holding, striking him on the head.
The injured man was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Upon receiving information, police personnel from V.B. Nagar Police Station reached the spot, conducted a panchnama, and collected evidence. A case has been registered against the accused under BNS Section 109, and further investigation is underway.
The incident led to temporary tension in the locality before the situation was brought under control.
